I was bored flipping through fanfiction.net for anything worth reading in any show that I liked, and stumbled upon We Froze But For a Moment, by SombraAlma. It's a Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?/Where's Waldo crossover romance 894 word, PG-13 fic (I told you I was bored), set in a random hotel in Kiev while Carmen's taking a break between jobs. She's drowning her troubles when she spots tall dark and nerdy across the room doing a good job at being invisible in a busy crowd.

It's a neat bit of nostalgia, and the author does a really good job of sparking chemistry between Carmen and Waldo. I'm guessing it was either a random prompt from a friend (most of her fanfics are for Lost or Bones) or it was a rampant plot bunny. In any case, it's really cute, and I recommend it to anyone who watched any incarnation of Carmen Sandiego's shows, or Waldo fans.

For a song, I'm going old skool and sharing Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel with you my lovely friends. I love the stomp-y rhythm at the beginning, it's a happy song to sing along with, and I get the feeling everyone could use some happy right about now. So there's my day 1! Whether I remember to do anything for this past maybe tommorow, I don't know, but I shared the song and I'm happy with that.

I don't have to be back at work until Tuesday, so I tagged along with my dad on a drive to Vancouver for the weekend. Very glad to be out of Calgary, as I was going stir-crazy.

The drive was long, and uneventful, but the uneventful part is a good thing while going through the Coquillah in autumn.

So, yeah. Hi, from Vancouver. Going to bed as soon our loudmouth host goes to bed.

I'm not impressed at this news. I know I've been out of that school for 5 years, but it still annoys me that they're changing the name. Whether a Trojan's on the jerseys or not, it was a pretty big part of the school's identity back when I went there. He's an awesome mascot to bring out (even if he's not the big rubber suit variety), and a fun name to poke fun at (currently blanking on all the fun condom jokes, but there were quite a few).

So yeah, overall, hot happy; but I guess since I'm not a student there all I can hope for is that they don't pick something like the "Athletics", since the principal seems so keen to use the "A" that appears on jersey.
